An iconic landmark in Singapore, Raffles City is an integrated development comprising Raffles City Tower, Raffles City Shopping Centre, two hotels namely Swissôtel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore, as well as Raffles City Convention Centre. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect, I.M. Pei, Raffles City was the largest development project in Singapore which transformed the city’s skyline during the period of time when it broke ground in 1980 and officially opened in 1986.
Raffles City Singapore is strategically located on the fringe of Singapore’s Central Business District within the Downtown Core. It is also strategically located adjacent to and directly connected to City Hall MRT Station on the East-West Line and the Esplanade MRT Station on the Circle Line of the MRT system.
As at 31 December 2010, it has a total NLA of 74,376 square metres and has reached full tenancy with numerous major retail shops and offices.The 42-storey Raffles City Tower offers its office tenants an integrated business environment complete with the convenience of retail shops, hotels and convention space all at one location. Major tenants at Raffles City Tower include the Economic Development Board, Accenture Pte Ltd and Phillip Securities Pte Ltd.
Raffles City Shopping Centre is a prime retail mall spread over four floors, including one basement level. The mall is anchored by Robinsons (department store) and Jasons Market Place (gourmet supermarket) and houses over 180 retail shops.
In April 2007, the first phase of asset enhancement works was carried out and added an NLA of approximately 41,000 square feet of retail space. The tenant mix at the revamped mall is also strengthened with more international fashion brands such as Bally, Coach, Kate Spade and Aigner, as well as concept stores such as STGE, Swarovski, Tumi and Thomas Sabo. The mall also introduces a wide variety of high street labels like River Island, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse, together with new Singapore fashion brands such as M)phosis, Joop and Charles & Keith.
Raffles City Singapore was awarded the Green Mark Gold by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore.
Raffles City is jointly owned by CapitaCommercial Trust (CCT), Singapore’s first commercial real estate investment trust (REIT), and CapitaMall Trust (CMT), Singapore’s first and largest REIT by asset size and market capitalization, through an unlisted special purpose sub-trust, RCS Trust, with CCT and CMT holding an interest of 60.0% and 40.0% respectively.
