A 3,000 square metre Urban Plaza at the entrance to Capital Tower flaunts extensive landscaping, sculptures and an expansive Palm Pool with auspicious koi fish. A series of sculptures entitled Shimmering Pearls was designed by renowned Singaporean sculptor artist, Han Sai Por. The sculptures symbolise tumbling water, or good luck. The office tower with the urban plaza and recreational facilities are put together to foster an integrated vibrant community for work, play and entertainment.

In 2007, as part of the continuing asset enhancement programme, meeting rooms on the ninth floor were amalgamated into larger office floor space for more efficient use and some groundfloor space was also reconfigured and attracted three up market lifestyle retailers – Ermenegildo Zegna, Marmalade Group, and Bang & Olufsen, to set up their shops there.

During the early stage of the construction of Capital Tower, CapitaLand bought the development site from the Singapore government. Construction was completed in June 2000.

Today, marked by its outstanding architectural and green features, Capital Tower has won numerous design and construction awards such as Green Mark Gold, Water Efficient Building Award, Energy Efficient Building Award, Construction Excellence Award and Façade Design Excellence Merit Award (Office Category) from the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore, Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects and Singapore Institute of Architects. It has also won international awards like ASEAN Energy Awards and Fiabci Prix d'Excellance.
