Malaysia is one of CapitaLand’s key markets in Asia and the Group is committed to being a long-term real estate player in Malaysia.
CapitaLand has partnered strong local partners to spearhead its investments and tap on the opportunities in various real estate sectors in the country. In January 2007, CapitaLand partnered Malaysia’s Quill Group to list its first overseas Real Estate Investment Trust, Quill Capita Trust, on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. In March 2007, CapitaLand, together with Maybank Group launched Malaysia Commercial Development Fund to invest in real estate development projects in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley in Malaysia. The fund, which is CapitaLand’s first Malaysian private real estate fund, attracted strong investor interest of over three times and closed at US$270 million as Malaysia’s largest private real estate fund. CCL also strengthens its footprint in Malaysia through its stakes in UM Land, one of the major property development companies in Malaysia.
